at HIX Oyster & Chop House

Are you an oyster aficionado or looking to take the plunge and try your first? Saturday 16th September will launch the first HIX Oyster Celebration seeing the HIX Oyster and Chop House transformed into a haven for oyster lovers.

As native season approaches Mark has teamed up with fellow oyster lovers and experts Robin Hancock (Wright Brothers), Mitch Tonks (Rockfish and The Seahorse) and Tom Brown (Outlaw’s at The Capital) to celebrate the humble oyster.

Meet the oyster suppliers! Pete Miles (Dorset Oysters and Storm) and Nigel Bloxham (Portland oysters and Crab House Cafe) will also co-host our event and it wouldn’t be an oyster celebration without the first Loch Ryan natives of the season supplied by Scotland’s own Rossmore Oysters.

Pop down between 11am and 5pm where a series of talks, demos and tastings will be held throughout the day, with each host showcasing their favourite way to eat this beloved mollusc – natural, dressed, smoked or deep-fried. Guests can also tuck in to cones of HIX fish ‘n’ chips, cockle popcorn and oyster po’boys.

Pull up a stool at the marble oyster bar with our drinks guru Dustin MacMillan and try an oyster or two with a classic drinks pairing of Hambledon sparkling wine, Berry Bros No.3  London dry gin cocktails or Palmer’s HIX Oyster Ale.

The event is free to attend and you can register your interest here. Tokens for food and drink can be bought on the day but will also be available to buy online from August 18th. Check back for further updates.
